OK , my current horse is completely phobic about the great outdoors, has a heart attack if there are no letters, so i am trailing my young horse, ...carefully...trust me... and i am thinking this is not too bad, escept i get a sore you know what after an hour walking through the bush, but surely its gota help, certianly my daughters pony "Curly" AKA ..."Tamsweg Excell..". loves th old trail boss title...ears up, tail uup..truely..and today he worked lke a gem in the arean after 3 trails..
ps promise i rise better than i type...

on Curley, he just loves to look at himself in the arena mirrors, seriously he is a perv (to himself)

I think trail riding is a great thing to do!!! At our old property i tried to take my boy out once a week. It's just something different for them than being in an arena all day long. And if they can handle trail rides  (esp. if there is traffic) then they can hanle a lot of things like comps. I know that it is good to take a young horse out, apart from the fact that its good to get them used to different surroundings but also it helps them get better balance on their feet esp if there are hills and rocks and what not.

Does anyone know of any trail rides in Mt Nathan by any chance?

I wholeheartedly agree that trail riding is beneficial on so many levels, both physically and mentally! The only thing missing where I board at the moment is access to trails. I'm making do because we can ride through the pastures and out in the orchards, and there's one loop trail just outside the perimeter of the property. It's actually quite good for a young horse; allows me plenty of opportunity to ride outside the arena and I feel perfectly safe riding anywhere around the property all by myself. But without a trailer I'm dependent on other people hauling us out for more exciting trail rides.

Tadpole's fave (and this is his change of pace, Gilbert) is a good old fashioned hoon! I have a laugh, but the old fart seems to love it!

hoonI had to look that one up, but yes - I think lots of horses enjoy that!
