No one the way things are going... can't get my mare to the vet because of EI.
If I do get her there, it will be either another Sunny Boy, Swarovski, or Cool Cat.

i have 2 mares, my tb and a 3yo wyndemere, to go to fisherman's friend.
with the whole ei thing, i am also thinking of breeding my rising 4yo wyndemere filly also. haven't decided on a suitable partner for her yet. she is a lovely filly to ride, and is completely trainable, but i would like to breed her to something that would give her a little more overall athleticism and freedom through the shoulder. i would also like to see the foal with a slightly longer neck and legs, and a little more depth through the barrel.
i would love to breed to something with a little jumping blood, like contendro, but he is terribly expensive per dose ($3500), so i am thinking about contenda, who is contendro x bolero. having said that, i also fell in love with locksley 2, who is londonderry x weltmeyer, at the world yh champs last year, but am not sure if that would be a little too much weltmeyer in the mix, as wyndemere is by wolkenstein 2, who is by weltmeyer.
anyone else have any suggestions?

Sharyn,
here are some videos of 2 Don Frederico out of a Wolkenstein II/Matcho AA mares.
This is a cross used very successfully in Germany and as you can see comes through in the offspring quite nicely.
I am a fan of Don Fred as long as the mare is VERY correct legged.
And the semen is excellent.

Hi Sharyn, we hava a Contenda foal due out of our TB mare in a month. Swen also knows Rod Brown where he was in training before EI and he only had good things to say about him.
Contendro progeny are soooo hot right now, consistantly topping auctions, just look at the upcoming Hanoverian auction over 12% of the riding horses are by him! Huge percentage for just one stallion out of nearly 100 riding horses! A huge number in the 5yo jumper class at the Bundeschampionate!
Danni, still undecided. Its soo hard this year, everything we chose that is frozen is not available until late this year (Swarovski) or not at all (For Compliment - LOVE him, love the horse and the jumping blood on the mothers side) and many of the fresh have EI!

I feel so bad for all of you. The only good thing about being in WA re breeding is that we are not yet affected.
This is another stallion who is all the talk in Germany but unfortunately is not available this year.

Another stallion siring the goods in Europe and who is HIGHLY underrated(IMO) is Breitling W
This is a Premium Licensed son of his and he has sired many Licensed stallions and StPrSt
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IUn5V37J8bc
And this is Bertoli W, another excellent son

If I had a mare to breed with I would probably go along a similar line as you Danni, I really like the Quattro B line. I saw him at a stallion show and he was definately my favourite of the night. Maybe Quaterman because I like Rocadero and that is his dam sire. I also saw a quattro B son OS called Quantico, he is a gelding but very nice.

You've got great taste Jayden ;)
Unfortunately Quaterman will not be available to Aus breeders because his semen quality is very poor.
I think there are alot of underrated stallions in Europe who seem to be lost in the ever growing world of marketing.
Fortunately though there are also alot of breeders who see through the hype and make rational decisions based on the stallion's ability to nick with their mare.

i loved don frederico when i saw him last year, he absolutely blew me away!! i would probably describe him as a completely elastic rubber ball, as well as being quite beautiful, and, he is certainly one of the others i was considering. the only thing that concerns me is the windsucking and the front legs.
i am just not sure whether i want to go with frozen on a maiden mare, given my lack of income due to ei standstill. it is all lovely when it works, but can be very expensive for no result when it doesn't, and given the indefinite standstill, i am not sure whether it will be possible to get her to the vet for frozen breeding.
it is still early days, as i expect my horses will be sick in the next week or so, and won't be bred until they have recovered.........

Forgot to add before that we have managed to find husbands for 2 mares (out of 4) this year. Fingers crossed for our Riverdance maiden is going to Gym Star and our Gym Star maiden is going to Riverdance!!! We do however have a 3yo colt of this cross that is superb in all ways.

That's him Talaki. Even though people are saying he is overly mature to look at huge things are expected of him.
hey hey
sharyn if you are after something that can jump what about Chriss Chuggs "Vivant". as you might know he just recently won the Elysian Internation Gold Class. im not sure if they dressage campaigne he or not but during the lap of honour , Chuggy had him doing pirroettes, tempi changes and passage, and then whent for a gallop around the ring, all one handed and holding a massive trophy at the same time. oh, and he has the sweetest nature. Chris brought him over to the fence where all the lil kiddies were and he just stood there letting the children pat him all over the face.

Well, the other side of the whole EI and breeding saga, is the stallion owner. My boy, who to date has only ever covered live mares... will be learning the joys of, erm, (how shall I state this for the purpose of a G rated forum?) Lets just say, "donating" ;)
Hopefully, this way, he can meet his commitments to his prebooked outside mares ;). Not to mention that I have just had the pleasure of taking ownership of a lovely Andalusian/Freisian black stallion... a deal finalised as the lockdown came into play. He's another live cover boy.
Sigh. Something else to sort out!
Life is never boring, really.

I love both of the husbands you have chosen. They out produce themselves time and time again.

Oh and I also like Dressage Royal, I haven't seen a video of him but I worked where there was a son of his....Doringcourt. He seemed to have a very good temperement. One of those horses that catches your eye and you notice all of the good points first, rather than focusing on the weakness first.........
There are soooooo many stallions to choose from in Europe. When I went I was quite lucky to stay with someone who was very into the breeding scene. We went to alot of stallion shows which was really interesting. Others I like would be Krack C, and Rocadero. So many people say they are crazy but I really like them......

Take heart Gypsie, very few stallions have difficulty using a Dummy.
Even if yours proves to be one of the few there are so many methods to obtain the semen from them now that I am sure you will be fine
Others I like would be Krack C, and Rocadero. So many people say they are crazy but I really like them......
Helps that you make it look so easy to stick to/ride the "crazy" ones!

Sharon have you seen Bev's 2yo filly Jaybee Royal Princess by Royal Hit, she looks really lovely. Just thinking about fresh semen for you. I have one dose of Contendro which I bought as the last stock in Australia before he changed ownership. It was significantly cheaper then and boy do I feel lucky now!!! Really love some of the Diamond Hit progeny, but he isn't available till later in the season.

I'm not going to breed squigg anymore, with this second growth on her leg, whether it be a tumour/melanoma, we will just concentrate on riding, and maybe consider breeding or ET later. I still love Quaterback for her.
My youngest sister's mare (by Domhardt) is going to APS Dallas, a Pally WB of Salute lines. He's a nice horse, suits Kylie and my sis wants colour.
I want to put Shelley in foal for my next horse, I think Donerhall lines would suit her, I was thinking De Niro. She's only 15hh, so need something that will throw a bit of height or at least something a bit more solid. She's anglo, but it quite solid herself, and Tio (by Alladin) is chunky. She won't go in foal till next year.

hi naomi
i have seen that filly, she is lovely!! i didn't realize she was by royal hit. i have watched him on the vid, but am not 100% convinced yet that he would be the best match for ellie.
i could not believe the price on contendro this season, given the price we were quoted at famos last year when i met him in person!! he was on lease to the state stud, but i am sure famos still own him. could be wrong.
i got the video of contenda yesterday, and he looks quite good. he has an amazing canter and a very good walk. the trot was very green, but the video was when he was not long broken in. kym saw him when he came out of quarantine, and said he was very impressive. at the moment, him and gym star are on the short list.
speaking of gym star, gorgeous had hers the other day, and he is, well, gorgeous!! dark bay, with star, and 1 back sock and a half coronet on the front. he is a beautiful shape, and has the lovely dishy face and curly ears gym star seems to throw.
sharyn......

I could be wrong.....but I thought PSI had bought a large percentage of him. Thus the big price increase! I thought Contenda was lovely as well from the video but agree that the trot could be more expansive. I have heard some good things about Sandrels but still waiting on a video. I bet Gorgeous's Gym star baby is well......gorgeous, :) Might also be worth looking at Sultan by Stedinger. I know the guy who broke him in and he loved the horse, very atheltic, good brain to work with, super smart and 3 good paces. He is very tall though and still growing. Love the whole breeding thing, trying to pick just the right stallion/mare combination, just fascinating to see just what you get at the end and how they ride.
