Hey there,
I thought this was an interesting story to tell.
As some of you may know, I'm currently looking for a new horse. Why so? The mare I'm leasing needs to go back in December. It was one of those heartfelt moments where the owner comes and sees the horse after not giving a damn for the past 10 months and says "gee she's going nice, I'll have her back in December, thanks."
(yes, I'm getting there)
I got the mare on lease as a last resort, having looked for months on end. The first horse I looked at, which was about 18 months ago, I had a gut feeling about. He behaved perfectly, but as I wasn't too confident I didnt think it was worth my safety, as he was only a short time off the track. That, and my instructor of the time believed he was very overpriced. Maybe, but it was with disappointment that we said "thanks but no thanks" to the owners.
Jump forward to about a month ago. I was scanning webpage after webpage, trading post after trading post for horses. Finally I found the horse which I recognised as the one I'd ridden ages ago. For sale due to work committments, obviously by a different owner as they weren't in the same area.
Then tonight I stumbled across the ad again. What actually caught my eye was the price of a really nice showjumper/eventer type horse. Then I read on and it was the same horse (yet again!) except with one-third of the price tag I had looked at.
The ad fitted the criteria of what I wanted perfectly, so I finally called tonight. Unfortunately he has sustained an injury which limits him from doing high-level eventing, which is what I ultimately want to do, so he was unsuitable. But the lady and I had a nice chat, and I wished her luck finding him a nice home.
Now I feel like I've tied up a few loose ends.
Just thought I'd share that :)
