Hi everyone,

Just wondering if anyone has had any experience with the side padding (in straight load floats) in the horse section that convert into beds.

I have seen a few floats around with them and just wondered if they work well or if they are a bit dodgy? Is it a good idea? Or does anyone have a better idea?

Also if anyone does have them I would love to know who made them for you?

Thanks in advance.

hey
we were going to have them in our Macro float but for unfortunate reasons we recieved the float unfinished and the beds wern't in yet. we thought that it was just as good to get fold-out camping beds and since we have alot of storgae space in our 3-horse angle load we just pack them into the front compartment at the top along with folding camping pillows, blankets etc.
it is really good!
i would suggest getting good quality camping beds.

We have them in our float. Ours is an angle so the bed is just the timber without any padding. They are easy to use, ours just lift out and have one bar at each end that holds the bed out. The ones in our float are definately long enough but they are not very wide. My swag doesn't fit on it and I usually wake up balancing on the edge. That would easily be fixed by having the hinge that joins the bed to the wall higher up so the bed can be made wider.

Thanks for your responses guys.

Jayden, what brand is your float? Did you have them put in when you bought the float?

Ours is an Otto Tuza, they were already in the float. They are really quick and eazy, ours would have alot more use if they were that extra bit wider.

We were going to put them in our float when we bought it new. Ours is Kara Kar and they put them in but we didn't end up getting them we just throw a mattress in but we know a few people who have them and say they are great. If you went to a float place or a trailer place you could probably get them to put them in for you from memory Kara Kar put them in a 2h straight for around $350 (don't quot eme tohugh but I know its around that)

We have a bunk bed system in ours (extended front, 2H) The bottom bunk bed is fixed and the top bunk folds down to form a 'lounge' if you can imagine that. They are very comfy, and were made with our Cruise. Each bed has a thick foam mattress and because they are right in front of the horses, we have a plastic cover which prevents the hay and boogies being snorted all over them!!! Mum and dad usually take them though and I get a camping bed in the horsey part of the float!

Kristen,

We have them in our double float. The padding on the walls of the float folds up into beds. Very easy to install and quite comfortable. I do find they are quite high off the floor of the float so you either need to stand on something or use the stallion divider to climb up. Being so high does allow for plenty of storage space underneath.

Kristen, we used to have an Olympic float - double with extended front - and front load. The centre divider padding lifted up and sat on the window sill. These beds were FANTASTIC. Because you had so much other room underneath as well. They were very secure and it was also nice to be right next to the window - for fresh air, or just to peer over to the stables at your ponies in the middle of the night - or even just to keep an eye on anyone wandering around.
Our current float doesn't have beds and is an angle load. I have just had an inflatable mattress on the floor as I am usually sharing my bed with my two year old son - and he can't fall far if we are on the floor already!
Good luck with what you decide to do.
