I Have a Prestige Doge dressage saddle that i have to sell as i've owned it for over a year but have only ridden in it 5 times due to me selling the horse i bought it for.
I have absolutely no idea where to sell/advertise it  , I'm in Logan Village so any help or suggestion as to where to take it or where to put a add up for it would be greatly appreciated...

Maybe your local saddlery would take it on consignment, or you could try putting up an ad at your local produce. Or advertise it in your local club newsletter.

Thankyou for all of your help, it's a pitty that there is no longer a classifieds section - i'm very good at keeping horse gear which i'm not useing - you never know maybe one day i'll need it... I'd like to try ebay but i'm not sure how it works - can i set a minimum price that i want to get for the saddle or is it a case of the highest bid wins??

you can set a starting price, but the higher the stating price, the more it costs to list the item. i would think of it as insurance!

I sold a saddle on e-bay about 18 months ago and it was really good. It was a fairly old leather dressage saddle that I needed to get rid of and I took it to heaps of different places and got really low quotes for it, some people said they didn't think they would be able to sell it. I put it on e-bay with about 3 photos and a really low starting price on it just to see how it would go and it sold for about $400 more then what i wanted for it. The pictures cost about $.50 each to put on and the advertising rate is a couple of dollars depending on the amount of weeks you put it on. I'm fairly sure the starting price you set for the item doesn't effect the overall fee, but I'm not sure, Sharyn might be right. Just go and register and the steps to putting the item up for sale, its really easy.

I've sold a couple of things on eBay. They'll usually charge you a flat listing fee which I think is unrelated to the starting price of your item, but more related to the features you want for your ad (number of photos, ad design, etc etc). You are then charged a % of the final price when your item is sold. The details should be somewhere prominent on the eBay website.

HORSEDEALS!!!! People that shop on ebay are usually trying to get a bargain out of things so if you want to make a good profit for a rarley worn saddle i would sell it in a horsey magazine i recommend horsedeals because people like me buy it every month! haha
good luck

haha, yeah there is Horsedeals... BUT it takes weeks to get into it. Im sure you would get a few calls. You might just have more luck with a reputable saddlery.
I would go with ebay or a website. Horsedeals is over rated(IMHO) I have had my horse in HD for the december and feb issue and am sooo frustrated! From those two months of her being in the mag and on the net only had a few calls!! try 10, but no body was serious about looking at her! There isn't much of a market for young eventers that are ready to compete grrrrrrr!!!!!
Ok now im taking out my probs out on the mag :p It seems if you don't have a super flashy youngster or well trained schoolmaster that is worth bucket loads might not sell them straight away! I have seen horses in the mag for 6 months or more. Seen one horse on the net recently that had been in the mag 3 months ago. Same phone number as the ad. and the ad in HD had been in there for 3 issues(6 months). Now im blabbering. I'm fed up with horsedeals!!!
Saddles are obviously different to horses. From experience, you have to wonder if the $$$ for the ad is worth it!
I just put 2 saddles on Ebay. I'll let you know how Ebay 'performs'.
And... agreeing with Helen re horsedeals.... might it might just have to be my next port of call if I can't sell horsey via trading post etc.

I just sold a Precieux saddle and a Three year old Tb in the last months horsedeals so I can vouch for them. I have had quite a few calls on the saddle since I sold it ( which the buyer didn t come thru the add) so there are people out there looking.

Yes Madeline, my friend told my she had bought your saddle. She is very excited :) I guess you could say that the sale of your saddle came through a DressageIT connection :)

It did and thank you for telling her. Tell her to email me when she has ridden in it to let me know how she went.
It was a beautifully comfortable saddle to ride in.

I advertised my float in horse deals and would have had over 100 calls. It sold before the mag came out, so that has been slightly frustrating. I am still getting calls (2 this week)and it was advertised 2 issues ago.
