Hi every one
I was just wondering how you all put together your freestyles. Because some of the ppl at toowoomba had really good music.
Oh an Jytte what do you use for your music because the beats and stuff in yours where spot on so i am trying to find out how i can put one together with beats and stuff along with the original songs i have. I you wouldn't mind sharing your secrets that would be fantastic.

Hi Jayden,
I have always mixed all my freestyle music myself (since my first one in 2000)...I use a program called Cool Edit Pro, or there is one I just downloaded from the net for free called Audacity...these programs let you change the tempo of the music you have, so you can make the beat fit to your horse's footfalls as well as fading in/out and stuff like that. It is really quite fun once you get going...I just taught myself how to use the tools, just muck around for a few hours and see what the different things do...most programs have a help thing too if you need it. Then you can chop and change the music around so that it fits in with your choreography, but fade it so it all flows. Hope this helps :-)

Or you could have some of the hard work taken out and use a professional. Try www.fortissimofreestyles.com.au . It doesn't cost as much as you think it would, especially if you are organised with style of music and choreography. I had a lot of fun putting mine together so enjoy and goodluck.

Thanks Jayden :) I always try to choose music that has a definite beat..the original tempo isn't so important, as long as I like it enough to brainwash myself with it. I use a program called goldwave. You can download it for free off download.com and then keep using it after the "free trial" is up....it just pops up a notice to buy it every now and then, but if you ignore it (naughty naughty like me) then you can use it indefinately :)
If you get it, you can alter the speed of the song, fade it in and out, morph it...do heaps of stuff! It's great. Also, I get mum to film me running through the freestyle without music and get the good old metronome out and sit and try to find th exact beat of Tadpole. You'd be surprised at how quick the trot beat actually is...I always thought Tad was around the 144bpm, but I always found it really hard to ride to it so I double checked and it ended up actually being 153bpm!
I find the canter is the easiest to ride to, but the trot can be a little tricky. If you're game to use really beaty music (which I love!) then you;ve really gotta ride to the beat...or it looks terrible. I was lucky at Toowoomba because every other run through I've done has been a total mess!
If you have any probvlems with it, just email me.

hi all,
Thanks every one for all your sugestions. I am like you Jytte, I like music with a definate beat but with gangster i could never use it because we would always be 10 thousand times faster in the ring than we would be at home but now that i can do freestyles on cossack it is great because he is so reliable to the music. I'll try your sugestions.
Thanks
Phoebe

I use Cool Edit as well. It's great... I tried Audacity too, which is okay considering it's free, but I still prefer Cool Edit.
I learned to use it at uni ... and who said doing music subjects during a science degree wouldn't pay off :)
