Hi All,

I just want to have a whinge about the person who clipped my horse yesterday.. it is so bad!! im not happy at all.
He sedated my gelding which was fine, he was will out of it..
he has missed heaps of spots .. took forever to clip him.. was very rough with him kicked him a few times in the chest and when i told him not to kick him he said "im not bothering about his head/ face and this will have to do.. i cant do anymore" so now i have to get someone else out to fix it up!!!
i am so angry.. and now my poor boy looks so bad.. poor thing
and the thing is he was recomended to me by a friend of mine...

So be careful of who you get to clip your horse..

So be careful of who you get to clip your horse..I hope you let him know that you weren't happy with the job and demanded a decent amount off the fee!

I think I mentioed that I caouldn't find anyone to come to my mare so I borowed clippers and did it myself, my first time and even if i do say so myself i did a good job...ok it took 4 hours and I still have hair on my chest (tee hee) but she looks good and more to the point feels better, honestly it's not rocket science, mind you I'm only a dressage person and not a hacky so I'm not so fussy.

i am not picky ether - but if im paying someone to do a full clip i would like it to be done as a full clip... it was really bad..

but anyway i have it fixed up now someone else came to fix it yesterday and it looks abit better now - should look better in a few weeks

i wouldnt like too do it myself.. as i dont have clippers and i dont think the sedation would last 4 hours..

I sure hope the person who sedated your horse is liscenced to do so.... My old gelding was going to be clipped about 18 months ago now. We booked somebody as we don't have our own clippers but he's been clipped in the past- no problems not even tied up just stands there while the shearing takes place.

This person turns up, whips out a needle full of Ace and lines up my horse. I always sedate horses to clip them was the reply... So we sent them packing... Not only was this person unlicenced to give a sedative inraveinously but didn't even seem to calculate a dose....

I have since clipped my young loopy ex-race horse around his ears etc with no twitch or drugs.... It's just been a careful process of introduction to the clippers. I guess I'm just saying be careful with these powerful drugs and only use them as a last resort. It would be like sedating your horse to get their feet done- with time and training they accept this as a part of life and are relaxed with the whole process.

OK, I'll get off the soap box now...... :-)

Susan, I was horrified reading your story... what a silly thing to do!! I sure hope this person has a very gooood insurance coovere... there are about 5 million things that can go wrong with intravenous injection.... brrrrr I shudde just thinking about it...

Makes you wonder what we put up with, simply because they are the 'experts'. Doesn't hurt to stay on top of everything, and to continue to ask questions...

Susan...did you report the person?!?!?! They need to be pulled up for sure!

I certainly wouldn't have paid the bloke until he had done the job properly...but that's just me. Perhaps you should invest in a pair of clippers youself, Collaroy?

He's not a "farrier" as well, is he? If so, I think I know who he is and I'd never let him touch my horse again.

Hi Tilly,

Yes...... Thankfully he didn't get close enough to my old horse to do anything. I'm now saving all of my pennies to buy my own set of super dooper clippers! Woohoo.... watch out for all the mad hairdo!

Cheers,
