Appointment Process Decided by Evaluation Panel

The Evaluation Panel (HRH Princess Haya (FEI President), Simon Brooks-Ward (Chairman, Strategic Planning Committee) and Ken Lalo (Chairman, Judicial Committee)) that will recommend the appointment of the next FEI Secretary General, has decided on the criteria for selection and on the interview and evaluation process.

In order for a candidate to be selected, the candidate needs to demonstrate the following attributes:

- Leader – Evidence that the candidate can lead a diverse (international) organisation
- Manager – Evidence of director level managerial skills for an organisation that is of similar size and diversity
- Equestrian Knowledge – Sound working and practical knowledge of equestrian sports
- Strategic Vision – Evidence that the candidate can think strategically, as well as tactically
- Financial Understanding – Ability to handle management accounts and to implement strict financial controls
- Communicator – Demonstrate an ability to communicate at the highest level and to organisations and people with diverse backgrounds and cultures
- Development – Understanding the needs of an international organisation with varying needs and different stages of development
- Lausanne Based – The successful candidate needs to be based permanently in the Lausanne offices of the FEI. The candidate needs to speak one of the official languages of the FEI, fluently.

The timelines for the selection process were confirmed as follows:

- 31 July – All candidates to have supplied their letters of interest and CVs to Alex McLin in the Legal Department of the FEI
- 3 August – Shortlist published and candidates informed
- 23 / 24 August – Evaluation Panel meet and Interview shortlisted candidates
- 28 August – Extraordinary Bureau Meeting; the selected candidate shall be presented to the Bureau for formal approval. Following this meeting the successful candidate will be announced to the NFs and Media.

The shortlisted candidates will be informed of the location for the interviews by 3 August. The interviews will be conducted in Europe. In order to make the process fair, equal and transparent, it was determined that the interviews would involve the following:

- Presentation – Each candidate will need to give a powerpoint presentation of up to 15 minutes detailing their suitability for the appointment and their views on horsesport now and in the future
- Interview – Each candidate will be asked one question from each of the Regional Groups that have provided them, and up to 3 questions selected by the Evaluation Panel. The questions will be the same for each candidate. This will last no more than 25 minutes.
- Closing Remarks – Each candidate will be allowed five minutes to make closing remarks.
- Referees – candidates are to have their Referees ready to be contacted by the Evaluation Panel at the time of the interview.

Each presentation and interview will be filmed. The interview process for each candidate will be scheduled at one and a half hour intervals and will allow time for discussion by the Evaluation Panel.

Candidates are expected to cover their own expenses in getting to and from the interview, if selected for the shortlist. In addition, shortlisted candidates will need to sign a Confidentiality Agreement.

So..............what are they going to tell you at the interview that is so secretive it needs a confidentiality agreement. The meaning of life, how to get a ten?

Just updating the old resume now- Am hoping that being a nominations officer at the little, local equestrian group and Coles` night fill work will be the clincher;) What's the weather like in Lausanne anyway?

Depends what time of year Susan.. ;)

The skiing just around the corner is FANTASTIC!!! and the Geneva lake is beautiful in Summer!
