Good luck to anyone competing this weekend...
We'll see you up there, we're camping sat. night so look for the big blue and yellow float and come say Hi. (You won't be able to miss it!)
Ann, if you are out and about with your camera could you please take some piccy's of Rock? (That is, if he looks like he is working nicely) We only have one nice one. :(

Yes, I'll be there, taking as many photos as possible. Look for me in the dusty dark blue Akubra with a Green Bag for the camera.
The draw is up now on the DressageIT schedules page here, and the NAGs site at:

Thankyou!!
We only have one test, the Novice at 11:56 in ring 3. Still a few little grey patches to sort out before we hit the official elem.. I've said it every month since February, but next month we should be ready... :)
So guys, I can't be the only one going? Hoofie, Ivanka, Phoebe?
Saw you in the draw Jytte... :)

Yep count me in...should be a good weekend...fingers crossed...might acutually compete Golo at Toowoomba if he hasn't sold yet. Now that'll be a blast from the past!

Now that'll be a blast from the past!I was wondering just the other day why I hadn't seen Golo around recently. But I doubt if I'll be at Toowoomba to see him. With the price of petrol as it is, I'd need to sell about a hundred photos to cover the cost of getting there and back!

Anne I will be in ring 4 at 12.41pm if you happen to be near at the time I would love a photo!! Not looking forward to the trek but it should be a good day. Good luck to everyone competing!!

Good luck to everyone competing!!Will try, Naomi. I got some photos of you at the States/CDI last year, but they were in the Indoor, which is a total waste of time and card space. I wish they'd get some skylights in that roof, because nobody can get usable photos in there without a flash, and for flash you need to get closer than the rules allow.

Yeah I didn't compete him last year...First with a hip injury in March and then trying to consistently ride two horses and go to Uni...it just didn't work out so well and I decided to focus on Tadpole instead. So Golo was up at Fairbanks for a few months, but now that Shane's in Europe Golo is back home and on the market...doesn't hurt competing him again in the mean time :)

No, as long as your grade point average doesn't take a dive as a result!
It must take a lot of organisation to work two horses and cope with full time uni.

Hi Anne, a pulled muscle, nothing serious but enough to make me re-consider a 7hr round trip and a run on the grass. Sorry to run you around, was looking forward to a photo.

That particular grass, btw, rides beautifully, having a good sand base. It rode especially well on Sunday after good rain during the week. I can understand riders who rode there many years ago groaning at the thought of riding on the Nambour grass, but since the footballers got their own grounds and only the cricketers and dressage people use it, the showgrounds staff have built a really good surface. I was as close as allowed when taking photos, and could hardly hear the footfalls. It had been freshly mown as well, and was an absolute picture.
The photos, whch will be up later today, show some really nice movements by the top horses.
I know you know this, but for the lurkers and less-experienced riders, please do the right thing and advise the organisers if you are not going to ride. No-shows cause real problems for organisers, judges, and other riders, especially where there are reserve lists, as happens at the major events. Most clubs advertise a mobile phone number so you can advise them as late as the day of competition if you have a last-minute crisis.

Poor Cossie! Hope he is better soon!
I was really suprised at how well the grass rode. Last year at the Sunshine Coast Champs, it was still a little hard and when Paul told us how much rain they had, I thought it might have been a bit slippery.... but it was beautiful to ride on!
We try to steer clear of comps that are on grass and hard ground now. NADEC is good, but Toowoomba, Gatton, Laidley etc etc are sooooo hard! I am not looking forward to the state championships up there, or the 2* next month. :( Good news about watering or a little bit of sand to minimise concussion would be great! (but not likely).
Yay for the photos! Can't wait to see everyone! I had a look at Rocky's video and he worked nicely apart from a few little "bobbles". No where near as deep as he felt either. We left before the results came out, so we will have to wait and see how we did.
I am not looking forward to the state championships up there.
Toowoomba will have sand for the State Championships.

Toowoomba's having the state champs? Really! I didn't know that, I thought they were going to be at Nambour again...at least by the time state champs come around it hopefully won't be so cold up there!

Yep, it was confirmed a couple of months ago.

Thankyou Ann!
That's fantastic news about the sand for state! Now I can stop worrying about he is going to behave :)
We try to steer clear of comps that are on grass and hard ground now.
A wise move if you are concerned about the longetivity of your mount.
We are extremely particular about surfaces, the other half always has been, and will not work (this includes warm up areas) or compete where the surface is poor.
Training dressage, always with the aim of GP, is hard enough on the poor beasties, without incurring (accumulative) concussion injuries to joints as well.
Here's a little tip for anyone that may ever compete at SIEC, have you farrier fit silicon pads in the front feet.
The warm up for the indoor is horrifically hard (it isn't always groomed or fluffed up ) which over the course of a comp can make them very sore up through the shoulders.
Just something to be aware of.

Great photos Ann. EE has been a cat on a hot tin roof waiting for them to come up! Well worth the wait. Also confirms our thoughts on the judging of that test.....23 pt discrepency between the two judges! Obviously watching two different horses. Wish I could afford to buy them all.....but have lotto ticket for tomorrow night.

Sorry about the wait. I came home with nearly 400 to go through, and I do check each one to make sure it isn't unflattering to horse and/or rider before including it.
Will keep my fingers crossed that you win tomorrow night.

Thanks for the tip Ricky...I'll keep it in mind!
23 points isn't so bad...I've had up to 50 in a PSG test...makes you wonder what on earth they're watching!

50! That's huge!
No, the difference isn't that big, but when looking at the results that they actually had up for that test, most were only 3 or 4 points difference, and the judge that marked him down was usually the one with higher marks... There were one or two riders who did have major differences though, one had 29 difference and there was another. ???
Like I said under the nambour photos thread, it appears as though she just has a thing for deep and low, and Rock had to pick Sunday of all days to do it! But I love him, and I wouldn't have traded any other horse for him on Sunday.... other days, yes! :D

HI Ann,
Any sign of the results yet from Nambour?
Great to hear that Toowoomba will have sand for the States.

CaroleJust got back from looking at the facilities at Nambour, and see that there's an answering machine message from Paul Gooding. I'll nag him about them when I ring him back.
Ann
I've just updated the Results page to include Bundaberg, Toowoomba Show and Nambour results.
