What are the best sort of clippers?
What have you got and do you like them?

Im looking at getting a set of clippers, and Im really just trying to do my research before folking out quite a bit of money on them.

Cheers

We have Heiniger Delta model. Quite nice, light and quiet. Only catch is the blades that are supplied tend to leave a few lines. If it's for show, I'd get a thinner blade...

Good luck

I have the Heiniger Deltas too... like them too, though only done 2 horses so far. I think Forbidden Doughnut was right about the blades. Actually, my blades have rusted slightly already despite being cleaned and oiled. The actual machine itself is fine though.

I have a heineger something. Its, like, 13 years old and still running strong, and I don't have a problem with lines. But I hate clipping horses, so I only use it now on the minature horse and pay someone to do Zephyr, and it looks like I can't hold out on Cardiff-the-wooly-mammoth-incarnate any longer either. Professional clipper-people do a better job in half the time and they're the ones who end up with piles of clipped hair in their eyes and down their throat, and it never washes out of your clothes either. I'd rather remove beans!

I have Heiniger too, have had them for about 6 yrs with no complaints and clip 4 - 5 horses every year, though I do use Oster blades, they do a much better 'show' clip, they're tougher wearing blades and I get them sharpened every 3rd clip. Really hate the hair down the throat but the hair stuck to your eyeballs is much worse.......not looking forward to clipping the arab pony tomorrow, been putting it off, drugs will be involved, if not for the horse, for me!!:D
