The FEI has had an image makeover, part of which is a new logo. You can see it at their web site:

That's the Dressage page, which has the corporatisation guff on it.

For my part, I'm so used to seeing the acronym, that it took me ages to see the horse, and I still have to look for it.

What do you think?

Oh I see the horse now! It took me awhile. Very swish, will take a bit of getting used to though.

Me too. I think that might be because we're accustomed to the avatar.

only took me about 15 seconds to see the horse in it........and i think they have chose a great colour for it......

Now why am I not surprised that you like the purpleness of the logo? It certainly couldn't have anything at all to do with the colour of your text. Noooo!

I like it... very psychedelic (is that how you spell it??) You know.. the mind games with the vase and the face in it.. or the beuatyful lady and the gumpy old witch.

It makes you focuss on the lightness, not the darkness. And isn't that just what dressage is all about???

And yes... I love purple...

Yeah, we're all so used to reading it as text, that we don't see the picture. A non-horsey graphic designer who viewed it had no trouble seeing the horse.

Yeah of course....only cause I was reading down the thread when I opened the logo...I would have picked it up anyway. I think!

I like it a lot though.

Very nice.... I admit I saw the horse head first off but I'm not used to any of the old logos etc....

A new logo for the new mileneum. Maybe one day I'll get to that level and be sent a letter etc with it on it!

One can only hope..

You're looking too hard! Don't focus on the letters, focus between the letters..... particularly the F and the E, funny dot looks like and eye!

Its actually very clever, but personally I think corporations / associations far too often waste far too much money on trying to change there image by changing logos. The design is only the tip of the berg, then EVERYTHING that bears the logo has to be replaced.

What for???? If a corporation needs to change its image it should look behind the logo not change it.

P.S. This is not a dig at the FEI, it is a general statement! You must all have bank accounts and curse the ever increasing bank fees and charges, well someones got to pay for that trendy new logo and all the associated costs in reproduction.....

Never dreamt of suggesting your eyes, to me it was obvious, your a dressage rider you were probably trying too hard!!!!

I was chatting online with a designer friend in the US when I put the CDI-W site up and asked her to have a look at it.

She said afterwards that her physicist husband had to have the horse pointed out to him. So you're in good company there.

The silly thing about the FEI logo is that they forgot that people would look for some meaning in the spaces between the E and the I, but there doesn't seem to be to me, unless it's a very badly designed feeder.

BTW, just in case people here haven't been there yet, the CDI-W for Brisbane has its own web site as I mentioned above.

Each discipline has its own colour. If you go to the FEI site and visit the various discipline pages, you'll see different colour scheme.

The colour for dressage is blue, but there are so many restrictions on its use that I just went for the purple. Actually, I tried the blue and had my knuckles rapped...
